How to set parameters for plastic injection molding ?
Asia Billion recently days got a lot of emails from our website readers for helping of that: how to setting the plastic injection molding parameters ? here today we would like to share our many years' experience for you.
In the injection molding process, the injection amount control (metering) of the machine and the uniform melting (plasticization) of the plastic are performed by the injection nozzle of the injection machine and the temperature control portion.
1.Barrel Temperature
Although the plastic melts, about 60-85% is due to the thermal energy generated by the rotation of the screw, but the molten state of the plastic is still greatly affected by the temperature of the heating cylinder, especially the temperature near the front of the nozzle . when the temperature in the front zone When it is high, it is easy to have the material leak and have the wire when the part is taken out.
2.Screw Speed
A. The melting of the plastic is generally due to the heat generated by the rotation of the screw. Therefore, if the screw rotates too fast, it has the following effects:
1). Thermal decomposition of plastics.
2). Glass fiber (fiber plastic) is shortened.
3). The screw or heating cylinder wears up faster.
B. The setting of the speed can be measured by the size of the circumferential speed (circumferen-tial screw speed):
Peripheral speed = n (speed) * d (diameter) * π (pi)
Generally, for plastics with low viscosity and good thermal stability, the circumferential speed of the screw rod rotation can be set to about 1 m/s, but the plastic with poor thermal stability should be as low as 0.1 or so.
C. In practical applications, we can reduce the screw speed as much as possible so that the rotary feed can be completed before the mold is opened.
3.BACK PRESSURE
A. When the screw is rotated and fed, the pressure accumulated by the melt propelled to the front end of the screw is called back pressure. During injection molding, it can be adjusted by adjusting the oil pressure of the injection hydraulic cylinder. The back pressure can have the following Effect:
1). Melt more evenly.
2). The toner and filler are more evenly dispersed.
3). Let the gas exit from the drop opening.
4). The measurement of the feed is accurate.
B. The level of back pressure is determined by the viscosity of the plastic and its thermal stability. The too high back pressure makes the feed time prolonged, and the plastic shearing force is easy to cause the plastic to overheat. Generally 5~15kg/cm2 is suitable.
4.Decompression
A. After the rod is rotated and the feed is finished, the screw can be properly withdrawn, and the melt pressure at the front end of the screw can be reduced. This is called loosening, and the effect is to prevent dripping of the nozzle portion.
B. Insufficient, it is easy to make the main channel (SPRUE) stick mold; and too much retreat, it can suck in the air, causing gas marks on the molded product.
