This part use for automotive ignition coils of Hyundai Motor. it is a 4 cavities mass production injection mold for our South Korea and Japan customer. For this project Asia Billion are the tier 3 supplier for Hyundai automotive and we only made the mold for our direct customer, mass production will run in our customer own molding plant. for now we have made more than 5 ignition coils injection tooling for our customers , the end customers include Ford, General Motor, Honda and Volkswagen. Asia Billion is trying our best to learn more and support more our automotive injection molding customers for the whole automotive injection molding components modules.

PBT+GF30 material physical properties:


1) Basic physical properties


  PBT resin is crystalline, with a melting point of about 230 ° C and a relative density of 1.35. It has excellent mechanical properties, self-lubricating and wear resistance, low friction coefficient, good heat resistance and weather resistance; but it has large notch sensitivity and good dimensional stability. It has excellent electrical properties and good arc resistance; it is chemically resistant and excellent, and it does not work with aqueous solutions of alcohols, ethers, aliphatic hydrocarbons, acids and salts, but it is not resistant to strong acids and alkalis. It is resistant to carbon tetrachloride, swells in dichloroethane, and somewhat swells in aromatic hydrocarbons and acetic acid. Among the modified PBT, 92% is reinforced with glass fiber, and the PBT with enhanced modification has outstanding performance: 1 excellent heat resistance, long-term use temperature of 125 ° C, short-term use temperature of 210 ° C; 2 high mechanical strength, Long deformation under high load for a long time; 3 low water absorption, good dimensional stability, and excellent friction and wear resistance.


2) Process characteristics


1, PBT has a distinct melting point, melting point of 225 ~ 235 ° C, is a crystalline material, crystallinity of up to 40%.


2, the viscosity of the PBT melt is not as much affected by the temperature as the shear stress, so in the injection molding, the injection pressure has a significant effect on the PBT melt.


3, PBT has good fluidity in the molten state, low viscosity, second only to nylon, and it is prone to "casting" phenomenon during molding.


4. Anisotropy of PBT molded articles. PBT is easily decomposed when exposed to water at high temperatures.


PBT notes:


1) The ratio of recycled materials to new materials is at 25:75


2) In general, no release agent is used, and if necessary, a silicone release agent may be used.


3) Shutdown PBT has a downtime of less than 30 minutes and can be shut down when the temperature is lowered to 200 °C. After the long-term shutdown, in the production, the material in the barrel should be emptied, and then the new material can be added for normal production.


4) The finished product generally does not need to be treated. If necessary, it should be treated at 120 °C for 1~2h.


 PBT+GF30% Processing Technology:


  PBT should be dried before injection molding, and the moisture content should be controlled below 0.03%. When the PBT is dried by hot air circulation, when the temperature is 110 ° C, 115 ° C or 145 ° C, the corresponding time does not exceed six hours. The thickness of the layer is less than 32 mm. PBT injection temperature: PBT decomposition temperature is 285 ° C, so the actual production control is 235-265 ° C: PBT injection pressure injection pressure is 52 ~ 102MPa. PBT injection rate PBT cools quickly, so a faster injection rate is used. Screw speed and back pressure The screw speed of the molded PBT should not exceed 80r/min, between 25 and 62r/min. The back pressure is 12% to 17% of the injection pressure. The temperature of the PBT mold is 65 to 82 ° C, and the temperature difference between the parts does not exceed 12 ° C. The PBT molding time is generally 18 to 62 s.


   PBT's fast filling speed generally lengthens the process and is suitable for filling thin-walled profiles and forming a good surface finish. PBT for thick-walled products, slow filling helps to reduce voids. PBT when using narrow gates, wall thickness The filling speed of the segment should be reduced to help maintain the pressure. PBT For small gates (needle-shaped gates), it is recommended to use a program injection, starting with a slower injection speed, a reduction in shear, swirl and Charging of materials. PBT Generally we recommend PBT to use medium and high speed injection speed in order to improve the surface gloss and improve the strength of the bonding wire. Injection volume: The recommended injection volume is 35%~85% of the machine capacity, and the color control is strictly mixed. According to the grade, PBT recommends that the injection volume be as close as possible to 63% of the machine capacity to reduce the residence time. For PBT to enhance the grade, the low pressure should be chosen to help reduce the loss of glass fiber during plasticization.
