Thermoset BMC Plastic Features

BMC molded plastic bulk molding plastics have excellent electrical properties, mechanical properties, heat resistance, chemical resistance, and adapt to a variety of molding processes, to meet the performance requirements of various products.

Bulk molding compound (BMC molding compound) is a thermosetting plastic in which a variety of inert fillers, fiber reinforcements, catalysts, stabilizers, and pigments are mixed to form a gluey “putty-like” shape for compression or injection molding. Composite material. The bulk moulding compound (BMC moulding compound) is highly filled and reinforced by short fibres, which are 10% to 30% and usually have a length of between 1/32 inch and 1/2 inch (12.5 mm).

According to different final application fields, the prepared composite material can be accurately controlled in size, has good flame retardancy and tracking resistance, has high dielectric strength, corrosion resistance and stain resistance, excellent mechanical properties, and low shrinkage. Stable color. Bulk molding compound (BMC molding compound) has excellent flow characteristics, insulation and flame retardancy, and is suitable for precise and various applications requiring detailed and precise dimensions. The material is available in 75 colors to withstand powder spray or waterborne paints.

Chopped glass fiber and unsaturated polyester slurry mixed dough prepreg. It is suitable for molding by molding, transfer molding, injection molding, etc. The obtained products have good mechanical properties, high dimensional stability, good surface finish, excellent resistance to water, oil, and corrosion, heat resistance, and excellent electrical properties, especially Arc resistance can reach about 190s.

1, general performance:

The proportion of BMC molding compound (DMC) is relatively large, between 1.3-2.1; products look bright, feel good, have a hard and heavy feeling; heating with fire will produce a lot of fumes, and smell of styrene; some varieties of BMC molding compound (DMC) is flame-retardant, but some varieties are extremely flammable and leave behind inorganic substances after combustion.

 2, dimensional stability:

The coefficient of linear expansion of BMC molding compound (DMC) is (1.3-3.5)×10-5K-1, which is smaller than that of common thermoplastics. Therefore, BMC molding compound (DMC) has high dimensional stability and dimensional accuracy. The temperature has little effect on the dimensional stability of the BMC molding compound (DMC), but the effect of humidity is more severe and the BMC molding compound expands when it absorbs moisture. The linear expansion coefficient of BMC molding compound (DMC) is very close to that of steel and aluminum, so it can be combined with it.

3, mechanical strength:

BMC molding compounds (DMC) have higher tensile, bending, and impact strength than thermoplastics and have better creep resistance than thermoplastics.

4, Water and solvent resistance:

BMC molding compound (DMC) has good corrosion resistance to water, ethanol, aliphatic hydrocarbons, grease, and oil, but does not tolerate ketones, chlorine hydrocarbons, aromatic hydrocarbons, acids and alkalis. BMC molding compound (DMC) has low water absorption, and the insulation performance is still good after one day of soaking.

5, heat resistance:

The heat resistance of BMC molding compound (DMC) is better than that of general engineering plastics. The heat distortion temperature HDT is 200-280°C and can be used at 130°C for a long time.

6, aging resistance:

BMC molding compound (DMC) has good aging resistance and can be used indoors for 15-20 years. After 10 years outdoor exposure, its strength retention rate is over 60%.

7, electrical properties:

The arc resistance of BMC molding compound (DMC) is the most prominent and can reach about 190 seconds.

8, low odor:

The styrene crosslinker used in BMC molding compound (DMC) will still have 0.1% residual after curing and will give off an odor when heated. Therefore, BMC molding compound (DMC) used for food appliances (such as microwave dishware) should use UP resin without residue styrene monomer type.
